Assistant Plant Manager – Silicas Manufacturing

Westlake, Louisiana

$165,000 + 20% Bonus

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Minerals / Manufacturing)

Polish language skills preferred

About the Role

We’re seeking an Assistant Plant Manager to join our team at a leading silicas manufacturing facility in Westlake, LA. In this high-impact leadership role, you’ll work alongside the Plant Manager to drive production efficiency, ensure product quality, maintain the highest safety standards, and lead continuous improvement initiatives.

What You’ll Do

• Assist in managing all plant operations – including production, maintenance, quality, and safety.
• Supervise and mentor teams to achieve high performance.
• Oversee production scheduling to meet customer demands and ensure on-time delivery.
• Lead continuous improvement projects using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
• Monitor and analyze production metrics (yield, throughput, downtime, quality) and report results to leadership.
• Work with Maintenance and Engineering to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
• Ensure regulatory compliance in environmental, health, and safety practices.
• Support budgeting, cost control, and capital project implementation .
• Collaborate across departments (QA, Engineering, Maintenance, Logistics) to align on goals.
• Lead training initiatives to build team skills in Lean, Six Sigma, and operational best practices .
• Participate in leadership meetings and strategic planning discussions.

What We’re Looking For

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Minerals / Manufacturing preferred).
• 5+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing operations (silicas, minerals, or chemicals preferred).
• Proven supervisory experience in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
• Strong communication and presentation skills at all organizational levels.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma (certification preferred).
• Proficiency in SAP, DCS, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and compliance.

Preferred:

• Silicas manufacturing experience.
• Ability to speak and translate Polish .
