Position Title: Data Scientist (Health Outcomes) Reporting to: Vice President, Health Outcomes Location: Chapel Hill, NC; Newton, MA or Minneapolis, MN; New York, NY Compensation: $125,000 - $145,000 (Data Scientist 3 - Senior Data Scientist 1), depending on qualifications, plus bonus potential and benefits Position Summary: We’re looking for a Data Scientist to join our Health Outcomes and Business Intelligence team. As a member of this team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining our data infrastructure for analyzing healthcare costs using administrative claims data. You will maintain industry standard healthcare analytics tools as well as develop innovative techniques for surfacing insights and opportunities. Key Responsibilities: Develop infrastructure to continuously monitor trends and identify opportunities in healthcare costs via administrative claims data using machine learning, business intelligence tools, statistics and artificial intelligence Apply classification systems (e.g. NYU non emergent algorithm) and tools to administrative claims data to leverage and scale existing data and generate insights Synthesize qualitative and quantitative information from administrative claims data, in addition to a wide range of disparate data sources including product data, academic literature, clinical trial results, and market research Collaborate with cross-functional teams to contribute to and meet business objectives Take personal responsibility for keeping all Well systems and data, including sensitive member data, secure and safe, according to Well data and security policies and HIPAA guidelines Preferred Qualifications: Work/industry experience in healthcare analytics, real world evidence, or related field developing infrastructure and leveraging administrative claims data to generate insights from complex healthcare data Knowledge of administrative claims data (CPT codes, ICD-10 codes), healthcare costs, and healthcare field Advanced SQL skills with experience standardizing queries and building data infrastructure involving large-scale relational datasets Knowledge of software engineering best practices like version control, naming conventions, and continuous integration to the analytics code base Experience with analytic tools/programming languages (R, Python, Stata) and working knowledge of statistics, causal inference, and machine learning Ability to organize, prioritize, plan, and execute multiple work streams concurrently and across teams Great communication and collaboration skills.
