Job Title: Director of Finance

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Finance to lead and enhance the financial operations of our organization. This role will work closely with the CFO and play a key leadership role in guiding the accounting team, optimizing financial processes, and ensuring strong financial performance and compliance. The ideal candidate will bring both technical accounting expertise and a forward-thinking, strategic mindset.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Partner with the CFO to oversee the overall financial health of the organization and lead day-to-day finance and accounting operations.
Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to the accounting team through regular one-on-one meetings, goal setting, and performance development.
Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and increased efficiency across financial systems and workflows.
Serve as a technical leader in accounting practices while contributing to high-level financial strategy and decision-making.
Manage and direct all financial reporting activities, including monthly and quarterly close processes, annual budgeting, and coordination of CPA reviews.
Conduct monthly one-on-one reviews and ensure oversight of job profitability by monitoring work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and other project-based financial reports.
Oversee all aspects of cash management, including weekly check approvals, cash flow forecasting, and analysis of discount and financing opportunities.
Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with financial institutions and banking partners.
Manage the annual insurance renewal process and oversee participation in contractor-controlled insurance programs, as well as the annual workers’ compensation audit.
Provide timely and accurate financial information to clients as part of their prequalification and due diligence processes.
Ensure compliance with all city and state tax and license requirements, including the preparation and submission of sales tax filings.
Lead and facilitate financial meetings with the executive team, providing insights and recommendations based on financial performance and forecasts.
Drive and participate in ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as needed to support business growth and strategic initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
CPA certification is preferred but not required.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Controller, Director of Finance, or similar senior financial leadership role.
Prior experience in the construction industry is preferred but not required.
Proven ability to lead a finance team, implement process improvements, and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with a hands-on approach.
