We are seeking a highly motivated graduate student to join our Infectious Disease Epidemiology team as a Summer 2026 Intern. This 11-week internship (June 1st through August 14th) will support vaccine development programs for respiratory viruses (influenza, RSV, SARS-CoV-2) and gastrointestinal viruses (norovirus), providing a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in real-world epidemiologic research, vaccine development, and decision-making processes.

Here’s What You’ll Do

  • Gain exposure to the role of Epidemiology in vaccine development, supporting clinical trial phases and post-market research
  • Lead and execute epidemiologic analyses on respiratory and gastrointestinal (GI) viruses and related health outcomes, including study design, data analysis, and interpretation of results
  • Communicate findings effectively through data visualization, reports, and presentations to cross-functional teams and leadership
  • Engage with cross-functional teams, including Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR), and Real-World Evidence Analytics
  • Contribute to regular cross-functional discussions on evidence generation strategies for respiratory and GI vaccines, shaping research priorities and decision-making

Here’s What You’ll Bring To The Table

  • Currently enrolled in a PhD, MPH, or MS program in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health, Global Health, or a pharmaceutical-related field
  • Strong background or interest in epidemiology and biostatistics
  • Minimum GPA of 3.4
  • Interest in vaccine development, pharmacoepidemiologic methods, and data-driven decision-making
  • Curiosity, eagerness to learn, and a collaborative yet independent work ethic
  • Technical skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel); experience with SAS or R is a plus but not required
  • Personal attributes: Strong communication skills, ability to meet deadlines, team-oriented mindset, adaptability under pressure, and a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • At Moderna, we are focused on delivering on our mission by enabling talent to thrive. For this role, we are currently unable to offer immigration sponsorship. Candidates must already hold work authorization in US and be able to maintain that status without the need for future sponsorship.
