Job Description

The Production General Manager is a hands-on leader responsible for overseeing all aspects of Production, Warehouse, and Logistics operations at our Stamford hub. This role blends daily execution with operational strategy to meet performance targets, streamline workflow, reduce cost, and promote a culture of excellence and accountability.

Working closely with the VP of Operations and senior leadership, the Production GM will lead a multi-level team including supervisors, sharpeners, warehouse staff, and logistics personnel. This position is central to driving performance, enhancing quality, and improving coordination across functions.

Key Responsibilities:

Production & Operations Oversight:

  • Lead and support daily production operations to meet output, quality, and delivery KPIs
  • Manage equipment use, maintenance, and safe operation of industrial sharpening and packaging machinery
  • Implement best practices in efficiency, quality control, and line productivity
  • Oversee cutlery processing, packaging, and fulfillment activities across the production floor
  • Maintain compliance with all OSHA, food safety, and sanitation protocols

Warehouse, Inventory & Logistics Management:

  • Direct warehouse activities including receiving, stocking, transfers, and outbound loading
  • Ensure accurate inventory control and product readiness for transfers and route deployment
  • Coordinate route and transfer logistics to minimize errors, delays, or product shortages
  • Monitor inventory levels and reorder thresholds in collaboration with purchasing and inventory teams
  • Lead and coach a team of Production Supervisors, QA staff, and line workers
  • Set shift schedules, assign responsibilities, and maintain adequate coverage for operational continuity
  • Evaluate staff performance, provide regular feedback, and address attendance or performance concerns
  • Support onboarding, training, and cross-training programs to build bench strength

Continuous Improvement & Strategic Support:

  • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce waste, improve productivity, and lower costs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (HR, IT, Customer Service, Sales) to improve communication and execution
  • Monitor and report on production KPIs and participate in business planning with leadership

Qualifications & Requirements:

Experience & Knowledge:

  • 5+ years in production, manufacturing, logistics, or operations management role
  • Experience managing warehouse, inventory, and logistics workflows
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large teams in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Teams, Outlook); experience with ERP/WMS systems preferred
  • Strong understanding of OSHA safety requirements and sanitation protocols
  • Hands-on leadership style with strong presence on the production floor
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communicator who builds trust and motivates teams to succeed
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and accountable to high standards

Physical & Schedule Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in a production environment with varying temperatures
  • Full-time, on-site role; flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed
