Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Genomics Scientist to join our team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of genomic analysis tools. This position combines scientific expertise with market awareness and cross-functional collaboration to help design the next generation of genomics software.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both industrial and academic genomics and a deep understanding of the evolving needs of researchers in the field. You will work closely with product development teams, software developers, and business stakeholders to ensure our solutions are scientifically robust, intuitive, and aligned with current and emerging market demands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor industry trends, customer workflows, and the competitive landscape to inform product strategy and feature development in genomics and bioinformatics.
  • Collaborate with product management, software engineering, and UX teams to define requirements and guide development of next-generation genomics tools.
  • Provide scientific leadership on genomics projects, ensuring that software features align with customer and market needs.
  • Contribute to the design, testing, and validation of new genomics algorithms, analysis pipelines, and user workflows.
  • Engage with academic and industry collaborators, customers, and partners to gather input, validate concepts, and refine product direction.
  • Communicate scientific insights and product developments through presentations at conferences, workshops, and customer meetings.
  • Contribute to grant applications or other funding opportunities as needed to support strategic initiatives. 

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Genomics, Genetics, Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, Computational Biology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of combined academic and/or industry experience in genomics or bioinformatics.
  • In-depth knowledge of genomics tools, sequencing technologies, data analysis workflows, and software platforms.
  • Familiarity with trends in genomic medicine, precision medicine, population genomics, or related areas and novel statistics methods.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across interdisciplinary teams.
  • Strong track record of successful grant writing and securing research funding.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with scripting or programming (e.g., Python, R) and cloud computing.
  • Experience working in a product development or commercial setting.
  • Prior involvement in the development or commercialization of genomics or bioinformatics software tools.
  • Established network within the genomics research or industry community.
