The Role:
As a Human Factors Engineer, you are in a mid-level position. In this role, you will work under the guidance of more senior team members and apply MTI's user-centered research, analysis, design, and development process. Your primary focus will be on learning and applying human factors principles to assist in creating highly-effective solutions for complex, critical missions.
Your Responsibilities:
Support the identification and evaluation of stakeholder requirements, program requirements, and compliance standards such as MIL-STD-1472 and -46855.
Planning and conducting basic human factors events andanalyses, such as stakeholder requirements discovery anddefinition, workflow and task analyses, compliance audits,usability studies, workload and situational awarenessexperiments, and user evaluation events.
Analyze data to support design decisions and make design recommendations.
Work closely with senior engineers to achieve projectobjectives.
Foster a collaborative and user-centric approach within theteam, encouraging knowledge sharing and skill development.
Support the development of compliant and user-centricsystems that effectively meet mission needs.
Apply human factors engineering principles to optimize usability, cost, quality, safety, and performance while advocatingfor end users in collaboration with other professionals, includingengineers, designers, managers, and/or customers.
Develop documentation such as Human Engineering DesignApproach Documents (HEDADs), Critical Task Analysis (CTA) reports, project briefings, human factors test results, etc.
Apply tools and standards such as MIL-STD-1472, NASA TaskLoad Index (TLX), Bedford Workload Scale, System UsabilityScale (SUS), UI style guides, etc.
Participate in technical meetings to provide human factors expertise and analysis.
Your Experience: A bachelor's degree in Human Factors Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Psychology, or a related field strongly preferred.
Master's and/or PhD Degree preferred.
3+ years of demonstrated experience required.
Solid understanding of human factors principles, usability testing methodologies, and HF regulations and standards.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate human factors findings and recommendations to diverse audiences.
Desire to advance expertise in human-centered design.
Ability to collaborate effectively and positively as part of a high-performing team
