Overview The California Department of Insurance (CDI) is seeking a Detective for the San Diego Regional Office. Working title: Detective. Classification: Investigator. Telework: Hybrid. Work location: San Diego County. This recruitment is for the San Diego Regional Office located at 10021 Willow Creek Road, Suite 100, San Diego, CA 92131. The CDI is the consumer protection agency for California’s insurance marketplace, overseeing more than 1,400 insurance companies and licensing more than 425,000 agents, brokers, adjusters, and business entities. Salary information is provided by the California Department of Insurance. The base pay range below is subject to change and may be adjusted by applicable pay differentials and leave programs. New to state candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of the alternate range when applicable. Responsibilities Investigators conduct criminal investigations of felony violations of State and Federal law relating to insurance fraud and white-collar crime. Incumbents may work alone, with a team, or as a lead investigator assigned to conduct investigations of criminal enterprises and profiteering, and assist in prosecuting cases in State and Federal courts. Duties include conducting investigations involving a broad range of felony violations and performing peace officer duties in accordance with the California Penal Code, Section 830.3. Qualifications Experience in State service as a peace officer investigating auto, workers’ compensation, property and casualty insurance fraud. Ability to generate clear and concise correspondence and investigative reports. Under supervision of a Supervising Fraud Investigator I, ability to perform duties commensurate with background and training from entry level to highly complex casework. New to state service?
