Summary:

The Municipal and Fleet Product Sales Specialist is responsible for selling Switch-N-Go equipment and upfits through both distributors and direct sales pathways. The Municipal and Fleet Product Sales Specialist will reach his or her municipal business targets by growing Switch-N-Go’s municipal and fleet business through effectively managing the co-operative development of that business with regional distributors and the regional SNG sales team. This person will steward the municipal business from strategy development, spec writing and marketing support. Along with conducting product demonstrations and managing special municipal sales programs made available to this customer segment.

The Municipal and Fleet Sales Specialist will reach their Fleet sales goals by growing our Residential Trash, Rental, and specialty fleets sales. This process will include a variety of sales techniques as well as working with regional partners to facilitate the up-fit of customer trucks with our systems.

This position will be expected to work with SNG, TBEI or Federal Signal Regional Territory managers to develop the SNG municipal business within their existing distributors and municipal contacts and with distributors and new municipal contacts in those regions.

Success in this role will be measured by the development of new ‘closed accounts’ and total sales revenue generation in both municipal business and the Trash fleet business.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Account Development

  • Acts as a professional resource and solutions provider in any instance for distributors, municipal entities and fleets.
  • Builds and fosters a network of referrals to create new opportunities for revenue growth.
  • Develop research for SNG sales targets by-way of internal contact lists, purchased contacts, lists of regional and state level municipal contract providers, trade shows and distributors provide information.
  • Travels routinely 30% to 70% of the time throughout U.S. to call on current and prospective municipal and fleet customers.
  • Performs professional presentations and/or demonstrations of company product(s)/service(s) while at Dealers or End user sites using demonstration vehicles and product literature.
  • Develop and maintain SNG’s customer database for the Municipal customers segment.
  • Develop understanding of SNG Trash Fleet segment, maintaining key customer contacts and providing support resources as required to expand their business segments with SNG products.
  • Generates and develops new customer accounts to increase revenue, by cold-calling if necessary, and a wide variety of other sales tactics.
  • Must articulate the SNG “value proposition’ and work to overcome objections of prospective customers by understanding how to upsell SNG products that can meet a wide range of end user needs.

Other Key Responsibilities

  • Quotes prices and credit terms and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained. Ensures customers understand SNG lead-times for deliveries and provides appropriate follow-up on orders.
  • Work with SNG management to provide voice of customer feedback and market intelligence to drive the creation of the company’s municipal and fleet strategies.
  • Maintains professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity to portray the company in a positive manner.
  • Actively manages call schedule to adequately cover assigned territory in a time-efficient manner.
  • Uses marketing data using applicable sales management software tools to maximize sales effectiveness.
  • Maintains accurate records, including sales call reports, expense reimbursement forms, billing invoices, and other documentation.
  • Keeps account activities and literature up to date while in the inside sales role working with the marketing department.
  • Leads and coordinates customer training on products, applications and safe operations.
  • Investigates and resolves customer problems with deliveries.
  • Attends trade shows.
