Physical Security Specialist
Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA), TXATS is seeking a qualified Physical Security specialist to support the Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) Mission Training Complex (MTC). The position is responsible for access control into the MTC during both daily operations and exercises, to include ensuring only authorized personnel enter the facility, and that they are appropriately badged to reflect their level of access. The position also supports Personnel Security, Security Awareness training, and the overall security policies and procedures at JBSA MTC to assist in mitigating the risk of compromise of national security information. Also acts as Alarm Monitor, operating electronic security system equipment to monitor MTC security and safety posture. This employee operates telephone console to receive incoming calls for assistance and coordinates with MTC staff to enable Soldiers and other MTC customers to navigate the MTC to achieve the Soldier or customer's objectives. This employee follows established guidelines, and scans status charts and computer screens to determine security and safety posture of the MTC. This employee monitors alarm system signals that indicate the location of fire or other emergency, operates two-way radio to communicate with MTC staff and external agencies. This worker types commands on computer keyboard to update files and maintain logs, tests communications and alarm equipment, and backup systems to ensure serviceability. The Security Specialist may provide pre-arrival instructions to emergency personnel and activates alarm system to notify fire stations. This employee records security status on SF 702, Security Container Check Sheet, at the close of each duty and/or business day to ensure that any area where classified information is used or stored is secure. An integral part of the Security Specialist's duties is to verify security of all vaults, secure rooms, and containers used for storing classified material. The employee will also conduct end of day security checks.
