Public Safety Officeru00a0liu00a0Limited Part Time Public Safety Officeru00a0STATUS: Limited Part-time - Scheduled on an as needed basisu00a0DEPARTMENT: Public Safetyu00a0LOCATION: Grand Rapids, Lettinga Campusu00a0REPORTS TO: Public Safety Supervisoru00a0PAY: $15.50-$16.50/hru00a0SUMMARY:u00a0This position is charged with providing a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This position works to educate the campus community regarding safety and security, minimize risk for the University, and enforce all University policies and procedures. These responsibilities are performed in an ethical manner consistent with the University's mission, vision, and values which include diversity, equity, and inclusion.u00a0RESPONSIBILITIES:u00a0u2022 Provide proactive campus patrols following the department's community policing model.u2022 Enforce university rules and regulations on campus, which include conducting investigations and completing/filing necessary documentation.u2022 Take immediate action to protect the life safety of community members, including other Public Safety Department personnel.u2022 Deliver medical treatment including basic first aid, CPR, and use of an AED unit, following training and certification.u2022 Perform safety escorts for students and employees to their cars and/or from building to building. Provide security for dignitaries and other visitors to the University.u2022 Investigate and file reports of security and safety concerns involving building structures, yards, and parking lots on campus.u2022 Identify and take steps to address safety hazards and liability concerns.u2022 Complete thorough incident reports on violations of laws or university policy, safety hazards or liability concerns, medical emergencies, and employee injuries.u2022 Maintain physical security systems including but not limited to: Electronic Access Control, CCTV, and Keys.u2022 Regulate and monitor traffic and parking conditions, taking enforcement action in concert with university policy.u2022 Maintain an inventory of found property following department policy.u2022 Understand and abide by all external and internal regulations and policies. This includes NCAA, GLIAC, and national affiliations associated with athletics or other role-specific regulations.u2022 Provides GREAT customer service, anticipating and exceeding the needs of our customers.u2022 Demonstrates and promotes the University's Cultural Values.u2022 Perform other duties as assigned.u00a0QUALIFICATIONS:u00a0u2022 High School Diploma (or equivalent) required, Associates degree preferred.u2022 No conviction for any felony offense, or misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.u2022 No conviction within the previous 3 years for possession/use of illegal drugs, criminal alcohol offenses, or any criminal driving offense.u2022 A valid driver's license is required in the state assigned (Michigan).u2022 Must maintain an acceptable driving record as required by the university insurer.u2022 Must have, or be eligible to obtain, a Michigan Concealed Pistol License.u2022 Must be able to maintain certification in First Aid/CPR/AED, defensive tactics - including the use of OC Spra
