Stanford School of Medicine is seeking a Social Science Research Professional 1 to serve as a Research Coordinator who will be an active contributor to melanoma research projects with important public health impact. The role requires a high degree of organization, independent initiative and judgment, strong ethic of collaboration, and exceptional interpersonal skills. Duties include meeting planning and support, coordinating research activities with internal and external partners for recruitment, enrollment, data gathering, and administering survey instruments. This position is ideal for an individual with a BA or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., public health, health care management, health services research, sociology, or anthropology) who is interested in advancing toward higher level training and has a passion for improving health equity in the United States. Responsibilities Contribute to the development and administration of survey instruments. Meeting planning and support (scheduling, agenda development, note-taking, and related tasks). Track project plans and budgetary expenditures to help ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Schedule research team meetings and update project plans and tasks based on meeting outcomes. Draft IRB applications and submit approvals for research projects under supervision. Draft regulatory and project reports. Review and audit case reports to ensure accurate data collection, entry, and compliance with research protocols. Assist with building research instruments using standard survey tools such as REDCap, Qualtrics, etc. Collaborate with the PI and research staff to synthesize and interpret quantitative and/or qualitative data using appropriate analysis methods. Conduct literature reviews and summarize results. Contribute to data analysis (quality control and preliminary analysis of quantitative data). Update research materials (e.g., recruitment materials, updated surveys) and submit to IRB to maintain approval status. Assist with the design of flyers, outreach materials, and educational tools for research activities and dissemination. Coordinate and contribute to collaborative research activities with community partners, collaborators, and/or students. May supervise and support other staff engaged in related research studies. Other duties may be assigned as needed. Qualifications Education & Experience (required): Bachelor of Arts in an applicable social science field, or a combination of education and relevant experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (required): understanding of scientific theory and methods; general computer skills; ability to work under deadlines; excellent organizational skills; effective oral and written communication; ability to work with human study participants. Education & Experience (preferred): Master’s degree in a related field may be considered; prior research experience in social science, public health, or medical research involving human subjects; experience with literature reviews or research reports. Languages: Professional level fluency in Spanish is desirable. Technical & Software Proficiencies Experience with REDCap, Qualtrics, and other survey/data collection tools. Experience with NVivo or equivalent qualitative analysis software; experience with R, STATA, or other statistical software. Familiarity with collaborative software (Google Drive, Box, Smartsheets, Slack, Zoom) and standard office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Physical Requirements Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks; ability to lift up to 10 pounds; occasional standing, walking, or light physical activities. Reasonable accommodations will be provided as needed to perform essential functions. Working Conditions May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens. May require non-standard, extended, or weekend hours to support research work. Pay and Benefits The compensation range for this position is $24.33 to $33.77 per hour and varies by geographic location and experience.
