Job Description

Overview Locations: San Francisco, CA; New York, NY; Portland, OR; or Remote within Canada or the United States. We’re not hiring a dolphin, but we are looking for someone who can juggle micro and macro work: a content designer/writer who can craft sharp, helpful, on-brand content for our banking product and also help shape the systems, guidelines, and strategies that improve team communication. This role requires balancing detailed writing with larger-scale product storytelling and content architecture. Note: Mercury is a financial technology company, not a bank. Banking services are provided through Choice Financial Group, Column N.A., and Evolve Bank & Trust; Members FDIC. Your impact You’ll influence how Mercury communicates inside our product, working with design, product, engineering, and marketing to bring coherence, clarity, and personality to everything we ship. What you’ll do Build deep empathy for our customers and translate it into clear, helpful product content. Partner with product teams to write material from error messages to onboarding flows and system templates. Extend brand values into the product experience with persuasive, human-centered copy. Create and socialize guidelines for style, mechanics, shared language, and system-wide voice consistency; define and evolve the architecture of reusable content components; establish principles for how we utilize channels (in-app, email, notifications, etc.) and their cadence. Collaborate with research and design to test and refine messaging. Support major initiatives by partnering with product designers and PMMs to help customers understand new developments. What we’re looking for 5–7 years of experience in Content Design or Product Writing with experience balancing writing craft and system thinking. Ability to move between detail-oriented execution and team-wide strategy. Strong communication skills: advocate for voice, consistency, and clarity across disciplines. Proactive partner who brings ideas as well as execution. Curiosity, empathy, and a willingness to experiment. FinTech experience is a plus. How to apply To apply, please submit your cover letter along with your portfolio, website, or other samples of your work. Include how you show up and tell data-driven stories. We will not consider applications without a cover letter and work samples. Our total rewards package includes base salary, equity (stock options), and benefits. Our salary and equity ranges are competitive within the SaaS and fintech industry and are updated regularly using compensation survey data. New hire offers are based on experience, location, and internal pay equity. Salary ranges (target) for this role US: New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, or the San Francisco Bay Area: $153,800–$192,300 US: Outside of those areas: $138,500–$173,100 Canada: CAD $145,400–$163,500 Mercury is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer. All individuals seeking employment are considered without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, marital status, ancestry, disability, veteran status, gender identity, sexual orientation, or any other legally protected characteristic. Mercury provides reasonable accommodations during the recruitment process for applicants with disabilities or special needs.
