The Role

SVP, Alternatives Institutional Portfolio Manager

The SVP Alternatives IPM will work closely with Fidelity’s private equity multi-strategy fund and direct real estate investment teams to support the growth of the products to institutional and intermediary customers. This role is suited for candidates with entrepreneurial energy and accountability who are excited to build a business with the backing of a leading financial services company. The professional must also be willing to manage a start-up workload and possess an agile mindset to adapt between a small team environment and a larger, established organization.

The Team

Located in Boston, MA, the Alternative Product Development Team ('Alternatives') is part of Fidelity’s Enterprise Services Division, which manages growth initiatives, new business creation, and innovation. The team collaborates with Fidelity’s Asset Management Division and proprietary alternative investment entities within Devonshire Investments to bring real estate and private equity multi-strategy investments to market.

The Purpose of Your Role and the Value You Deliver

The Institutional PM will be a senior advocate for Fidelity’s private equity multi-strategy and direct real estate products, representing them to existing and prospective institutional and intermediary clients, gatekeepers, and internal partners in distribution, operations, marketing, and asset management. This role is vital for supporting the growth of Fidelity’s private markets offerings.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Contribute to the go-to-market sales strategy for private equity multi-strategy and direct real estate products, including defining target segments, prospects, pricing, and key terms.
  2. Collaborate with sales and portfolio teams throughout the entire sales process, from sourcing and meetings to due diligence and client reporting.
  3. Meet with existing clients to provide portfolio and performance updates.
  4. Work with marketing to create client-facing collateral.
  5. Gather client and consultant feedback for senior leadership.
  6. Identify thought leadership opportunities and events to promote Fidelity’s capabilities.
  7. Partner with marketing to develop white papers, case studies, marketing campaigns, and press releases.
  8. Collaborate on new product development and innovative client solutions.

The Expertise We’re Looking For

  • Series 7, Series 24, Series 63 certifications.
  • Experience in private markets, specifically real estate, infrastructure, or private equity.
  • 15+ years in alternatives, including product development, relationship management, and sales.
  • Ability to explain complex products and structures clearly to various audiences.
  • Strong writing skills and experience creating promotional materials, articles, and delivering public speeches.
  • Deep knowledge of private market regulations.
